Theron Newton, Center Manager
Theron’s a 1988 graduate of Texas A&M University. In 1989, Theron went to work for his dad at this location. He started from the bottom, running parts and cleaning the shop. In 1990 he was moved into the position of Center Manager and is responsible for all shop operations.

Theron is married and the father of two children. Give him a call with any transmission related question, or come by the shop and find out why his nickname is Fig.

Ricardo Santos-Coy, Diagnostic Specialists
Ric’s interest in automobiles began in 1972, when his sister’s Impala blew up and Ric’s dad told him to fix it! Ric started working as a general mechanic in 1975 and came to A Plus Transmission in 1989, where he has been ever since. His specialty is diagnosing transmission problems and will personally inspect your vehicle when you bring it in. On completing the check out, Ric enjoys taking our customers into the shop for a thorough explanation of his inspection. Don’t worry, he won’t get any grease on you!

Ursino Hernandez, R&R Technician
Ursino started with A Plus Transmission in 1995 and his main job is to remove and reinstall your vehicle’s transmission. He is also an excellent general mechanic and transmission builder. He is married and the father of four children. If you hear someone singing in the shop, it’s probably Ursino. Marc Anthony , eat your heart out!

Rafael Villeda, Builder
Rafael decided to get into the transmission business in 1990 because of his love for cars. Rafael’s job is to disassemble, repair, and reassemble your vehicle’s transmission. His pride in his work also prompts him to inspect your vehicle before delivering it back to you; he personally drives and inspects every vehicle he repairs. His current personal project is a 1990 BMW 525i and a 1998 high performance Mitsubishi Eclipse. Rafael is married and the father of two children. That beemer looks familiar!

Bobbie Slocum, Administrative Assistant
Bobbie is a long time resident of Houston and a vital part of our A Plus Team. You may talk to Bobbie when you call our shop or get a ride with her after leaving your vehicle with us for repair. She also does most of our administrative work as well as pick up parts, cars and customers. She knows just about everybody!
